Google playing Pacman

Google playing Pacman

I got used to opening bookmarked items all at the same time and I was wondering where the hell did that sound come from? And there it was, Google featuring its Pacman theme logo (with sounds!). I wonder what’s next?

There is no such thing as “No Return, No Exchange” policy

There is no such thing as “No Return, No Exchange” policy

You read it right. Under Philippine laws, there is no such thing as a “No Return, No Exchange” policy.

I’m off to SM Megamall in a while to return or exchange a newly purchased laptop cooling fan. I learned so much about this deceptive policy as I was looking for strong (legal) words to say in case Company X (which I will reveal if they’ll give me hard time on this) insists the “No Return, No Exchange” line.

I have little knowledge of the so-called policy. I thought you can only return or exchange defective items within seven days together with the packaging and receipt as proof of purchase. Normally, if these things were not acknowledged by the seller, I would create a scene (hehe!) ensuring that customers are around listening. If it still doesn’t work, my last option is to drop the magic word, “If we can’t settle this today, I will report you to DTI!”

Are men more thoughtful than women?

I can’t help but wonder whether men are more thoughtful than women.

I’m about to turn a year older in just about eight hours from now and I’ve been receiving a lot of early greetings from men! Coincidence? I don’t think so since only 25% of my friends in Facebook are men and most of them are even gay.

The first guy who greeted me was my 2nd cousin whom I’ve only met after so many years since I was 12. The next one was my 2nd cousin as well. I haven’t really talked to him nor had any social interactions with him thru Facebook. the third guy was my uncle from my estranged father’s side whom I haven’t seen since I was 10 or so. Lastly, the fourth guy was my former officemate/boss. I haven’t seen him for almost two years now but I bumped in to him a week ago.

So how come these guys were the first to remember when I haven’t had any strong relationships with them and I haven’t seen them recently? I tried to search for any info or statistics about this but couldn’t find one. Most probably men are just spontaneous and would immediately blurt out their thoughts before it slip their minds.

This idea kept playing in my head when another idea came and I just realized perhaps those people who are close to you and who cares about you won’t just greet you thru SMS, Facebook, or any other social networking sites. They will greet you personally or thru a phone call and will greet you at the right moment…when you least expect it. Really???

Meet Della!

Meet Della!

Meet Della (pronounced as Del-ya)! I just bought her (Dell Inspiron 14 core i3) yesterday and pretty much satisfied with my new toy. And yes, I am fond of naming by gadgets like Sab (Canon Powershot D10 digital camera) and Corby (Samsung S3650). Although, I haven’t named my sister’s hand-me-down iPod video yet…still thinking.

So what’s with Della?

  • love the posh cherry red hue
  • brushed metallic frame
  • clean and wide keyboard and keys
  • thin and light-weight power charger
  • 14″ HD widescreen LED
  • loud quality stereo speakers!
  • runs in core i3
  • comes with Win 7 Home Basic OS
  • huge memory of 320GB

Impeded Monologue

On my way to work, I’d often pass by 7-11 to grab a drink. There is this old lady in shabby clothes who appears to be insane and would always stare at me as I take a swig of Mine Shine. Intrigued, I would often ask myself, “What is she thinking?”…”Does she know she’s crazy?”. With her every stare, I would attempt to stare back for a few minutes…trying to read her mind… As much as I want to approach her and get some answers, I’m just too scared…too scared to be mistaken for another young lady in business attire.

Finally, I was able to watch the 1981 Clash of the Titans. As much as I want to appreciate the plot which is somewhat different from that of the 2010 remake, I can’t help but laugh as early as the open credits. Of course, there’s nothing much to expect from the 1980s special effects when there’s a phony bird (eagle?) flying through the mountains where you can almost imagine a man holding an eagle cardboard attached to a stick. Not to mention, the Kraken resembled one of Shaider’s rivals as I imagine Puma Lay Ar shouting, “Release the Kraken!”.

If I wasn’t excited to see Robert Downey, Jr. again and curious about Scarlett Johansson‘s role, I would have dozed off while watching Iron Man 2. The film was too long and lacks focus in its attempt to introduce the characters while showcasing the ‘somehow’ star-studded cast.

At some point, most ‘ordinary’ people would want to see themselves in TV or their names in print. Others…like budding writers, would want to see their writings published…having to see their names with a byline. I don’t consider myself to be striking nor good in writing. I’m not a celebrity nor a writer material. In short, I consider myself as ordinary…but…I have:

  • Appeared in three TV commercials locally and abroad when I was still a kid up to my early teens
  • Interviewed for a feature article in a business newspaper insert
  • Written three blogs for my company’s global intranet site
  • Written  a feature article for a global charity newsletter
  • Asked to contribute a themed article on innovation for my company’s global newsletter

Most of which have my face and name on it. :-D

Looking back, I just realized…I have accomplished all of which without even extending an effort nor asking for it. They may be simple for some people but these are truly among my personal achievements.

My heart is filled with so much hatred and disappointment. I can only think of forgiving these people as an option to ease my pain. As I move on, I wonder…should I leave a farewell message? Do they deserve it? As I ponder, probably I should. My conduct and high regard for ethics urge me to do so but I’ll leave a message as simple (somewhat generic) and fitting for those a few. Admittedly blunt, I may have a hard time drafting this so I should probably start…That is right after I play another round of game where the funny zombies and mutated plants await. :-D
